About Dough Daddy Cooks
What is Dough Daddy Cooks?
A food project celebrating everything from hole‑in‑the‑wall gems to haute dining. You’ll find approachable recipes, honest reviews, pizza and BBQ debates, and the stories that tie it all together. We also use food as a way to give back through classes and fundraisers.
Who’s behind it?
Frank Zocco, a lifelong home cook and certified financial planner who believes food is connection. He runs The Slice Mob (a crew of friends who eat, review, and support local spots) and the CT Pizza Forum community.
Where can I follow along?
YouTube and Instagram @doughdaddycooks, plus Facebook for community updates. Long‑form reviews and event details live here on the site.
Content & Reviews
How do you choose restaurants to review?
We mix reader tips, local buzz, and our own hunt for great flavor. We try to balance classics, new openings, and under‑the‑radar spots.
Are reviews paid?
No. We buy most meals. If we accept a hosted visit, we disclose it clearly and our take stays honest.
Do you rate with stars?
We focus on clear descriptions and what stands out: crust quality, sauce balance, execution, service, and vibe. When useful, we’ll summarize with a quick “Slice Mob Approved” note.
What happens if you don’t like a place?
We prefer to give constructive feedback directly to the team and return later. If something’s truly off, we’ll explain the why, not just the what.
Can I request a review?
Yes—send the spot and what makes it special. If it fits our queue and travel, we’ll try to visit.
Recipes, Gear & Techniques
What kind of recipes should I expect?
Simple, repeatable dishes that deliver big flavor: weeknight winners, pizza at home, BBQ basics, and budget‑friendly crowd‑pleasers.
Do you share exact measurements?
Yes. We give weights when possible for consistency and success.
What gear do you actually use?
From cast‑iron and sheet pans to a pizza stone/steel and a reliable instant‑read thermometer. When we link to gear, it’s because we use it.
Will you cover culinary basics?
Absolutely—knife skills, dough stretching, fermentation timing, grilling fundamentals, and more.
Community & Giving Back
What does “Flavor with Purpose” mean?
We teach cooking, host fundraisers, and channel community energy toward tackling hunger and food insecurity. Food should feed people in more ways than one.
How can I get involved?
Join a Slice Mob meetup. 2) Volunteer at a fundraiser. 3) Donate to partner causes. 4) Share the work—every repost helps.
Do you accept donations?
Yes. When we run a fundraiser, we’ll post the link and beneficiary details on the event page and socials.
Slice Mob Meetups
What is The Slice Mob?
Lifelong friends and new pals meeting monthly to explore local pizzerias, support small businesses, and raise funds for causes we care about.
Can anyone join?
Sure. Watch our socials for dates and locations. Some meetups have limited seating—RSVP early.
How do you pick locations?
We rotate regions and styles—New Haven classics, coal‑fired, Detroit, Neapolitan, you name it. Suggestions welcome.
Do meetups raise money?
Often. We’ll note the beneficiary and how to participate with each event.
