Big Green Truck Pizza Great Pizza, Great Service, and an Experience That Never Disappoints

October 30, 2026

I’ve eaten a lot of pizza over the years. I’ve also made my fair share. So when I tell you that Big Green Truck Pizza puts out some really good pizza, I mean it!

I’ve had the pleasure of hiring Big Green Truck Pizza for multiple events over the years, from private gatherings to larger functions, and they’ve never disappointed.

For those unfamiliar with Big Green Truck Pizza, it’s exactly what the name suggests. A vintage green International Harvester truck outfitted with a wood-fired brick oven. And it’s quite the sight when it pulls up to your event!

But as cool as the truck is, it’s the pizza that keeps me coming back.

Let’s Talk Pizza!

First off, the variety is incredible. Sure, they make the traditional pies, but some of their specialty pizzas are where things really get interesting.

Over the years, I’ve had everything from a traditional New Haven tomato pie to pepperoni, sausage and broccoli rabe, meatball and ricotta, artichoke and goat cheese, buffalo chicken and shrimp Fra Diavolo.

At our most recent neighborhood party, they were cranking out pizzas like shrimp Florentine, mashed potato, and a bacon and Brussels sprouts pizza finished with hot honey.

And yes, I tried them all. Well, somebody has to do the difficult work! 😂

What I really appreciate is the balance of flavors. Some specialty pizzas can get a little carried away with toppings. More isn’t always better. You still want to taste the crust, the sauce and the individual ingredients.

Big Green Truck does a great job bringing everything together.

The wood-fired oven gives the pizzas a nice character, and there’s something about eating a pizza just minutes after it comes out of the oven that makes the experience even better.

And while I enjoy the creative combinations, I always appreciate a good traditional tomato pie. Sometimes the simplest pizzas tell you the most about the people making them.

It’s More Than Just the Pizza

One thing I’ve learned over the years, both cooking and hosting events, is that great food is only part of the equation.

Service matters. Timing matters. And when you’re feeding a large group, organization matters!

This is another area where Big Green Truck Pizza really shines.

At our most recent neighborhood gathering, they showed up ready to go. They got everything set up and started turning out pizza after pizza.

And they just kept coming!

We had approximately 50 people, and nobody, and I mean NOBODY, went hungry. In fact, we had plenty of leftovers.

That’s been my experience with them at other events as well. They know how to keep the food moving without making the experience feel rushed.

As someone who enjoys hosting, I appreciate that. The last thing I want to do when I have guests is worry about whether everyone is getting enough to eat.

They take care of that.

And Then Comes Dessert!

Just when you think you couldn’t possibly eat another bite, out comes the gelato and espresso.

Now that’s how you finish a pizza party!

It’s a great touch and something that really adds to the overall experience. People can relax, enjoy a little dessert, have an espresso and continue the conversation.

To me, that’s what these gatherings are all about.

Great Service Makes a Difference

I’ve worked with Big Green Truck Pizza on multiple occasions, and they’ve always been a pleasure to deal with.

Friendly, professional and clearly taking pride in what they do.

There’s something to be said for a business that understands that catering isn’t just about putting food on a plate. It’s about creating an experience.

You can see it in the way they interact with guests, the way they prepare the food and the attention they give to making sure everyone has a great time.

And when you’re the one hosting, that makes all the difference.

My Final Thoughts

I’ve hired Big Green Truck Pizza multiple times, and there’s a reason I keep going back.

They consistently deliver great pizza, plenty of variety and excellent service. And perhaps most importantly, they make hosting an event a whole lot easier.

Would I hire them again? Absolutely.

Would I recommend them? Without hesitation.

Whether you’re planning a neighborhood party, corporate function, family gathering or just want to treat a group of friends to some really good pizza, Big Green Truck Pizza is worth considering.

And if you do hire them, here’s a little advice. Come hungry!

Because trust me, you’re going to want to try more than one pizza.

Great food brings people together, and Big Green Truck Pizza does a pretty darn good job of making that happen.

Peace through pizza! 🍕
