Tavello Pizza - Bristol

October 22, 2026

The Slice Mob invaded Tavello Pizza today! And this place is worth talking about!

Today we headed over to Tavello Pizza for our latest Slice Mob gathering. And I have to say, we had some pretty darn good pizza!

First, the place itself. Bright, open, modern, with plenty of seating and a nice comfortable atmosphere. Great spot for a quick pizza or bringing a big group. And the first thing that caught my attention? Two beautiful wood-fired ovens sitting right there in the open kitchen. You know I had to check those out!

Tavello describes its pizza as Neo-Neapolitan. Think traditional Neapolitan, but slightly larger with a smaller cornicione (the outer crust). The dough goes through a 48-hour fermentation before hitting those 850-degree ovens. And get this, the pizzas cook in about 90 seconds! That’s some serious heat!

The crust had a nice flavor, a good chew and some beautiful charring. The sauce was bold, bright and very tomato forward. Something I really appreciate. And the toppings were nicely balanced. Nothing overpowering anything else.

I started with the Margherita D.O.P. Sometimes the simplest pizza tells you the most about a place. San Marzano tomato sauce, creamy fresh mozzarella, a little sweetness from the tomatoes, fresh basil and olive oil. Simple ingredients, but packed with flavor. This one really worked for me.

Next up was the Diavola. Now we’re talking! Spicy Italian salami and Calabrian peppers. This pizza packs a punch! The salami brings that rich, savory flavor and the peppers deliver a nice heat that sneaks up on you at the end. Not just heat for the sake of heat, either. Lots of flavor going on here. Really enjoyed this one.

The folks at Tavello were also kind enough to bring out a couple of salads for us to try.

The Amalfi Salad had blueberries, toasted pecans, blue cheese and an apricot dressing. Nice combination of sweet, tangy and crunchy.

The Salerno Salad was a little more traditional, with chickpeas, mozzarella, carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes. Fresh, colorful and a nice alternative if you’re looking for something besides pizza. Although I’m not sure why anyone would do that. 😂

And then came the sandwiches!

These are new to their menu and I have to say, they were amazing. We tried one with prosciutto, another with mortadella, and even a sweet one with Nutella.

What makes these interesting is that they’re using their pizza dough to make the bread. And it works! Nice texture, great flavor and a really good way to showcase what else you can do with a quality dough. The Nutella one certainly didn’t hurt either!

What I also liked about Tavello is how well the place works for groups. Plenty of room, comfortable seating and those two ovens keep the pizzas coming out quickly. No waiting around all afternoon for your next pie.

A big thank you to the folks at Tavello for welcoming the Slice Mob and bringing out some extra goodies for everyone to sample. Really appreciated the hospitality.

Bottom line? Tavello is definitely worth a visit. Good dough, bold sauce, quality ingredients and some really interesting combinations. There’s a lot to like here.

And as always, the best part was getting together with a great group of people who share a love of pizza. Good food, good conversation and plenty of laughs.

That’s what the Slice Mob is all about.

Peace through pizza! 🍕
