Carbone’s Hartford

Dinner at the new Carbone’s in Hartford.
Tonight we celebrated our anniversary and finally got to check out the new Carbone’s.
First, the place is beautiful. There are some nice nods to the old Hartford location and an homage to their Franklin Ave roots. Great looking bar too. They have a separate bar menu, which we didn’t see, just asked about. So I guess we have to go back. 😂
We started with the compressed melon, prosciutto and tomatoes. Sweet and salty with just a touch of acid from the tomatoes. Excellent starter.
They also brought out homemade breadsticks with citrus olives and cannellini beans in an Italian dressing. Really nice way to start the meal.
I had the Chicken Scarpariello. Crispy skinned chicken thighs with sausage, long hots and sweet peppers in a rosemary jus over creamy polenta. Nice balance of flavors and textures. This was a really good dish.
My wife had the housemade fettuccine with mushrooms and black truffles. Slightly sweet, earthy and umami packed. We also got a side of the Tuscan white beans. Very garlic forward and actually a really nice addition with the pasta.
Of course we had to get dessert.
Tableside tiramisu for two. Espresso and Marsala soaked ladyfingers with a creamy zabaglione, topped with cocoa and powdered sugar. Creamy, rich and sweet. And I’m always a sucker for something prepared tableside.
Excellent meal. Beautiful restaurant. Great parking, which in Hartford is always a bonus 😂, and an amazing staff.
A lot of history behind the Carbone’s name in Hartford and I think they did a great job paying respect to that history while creating something new.
Can’t wait to go back.
