Today I had the absolute pleasure of having lunch at Da’Carmine Pizzeria on the recommendation of Chef Ray Gennaro, and man, did he steer me right. Run by a husband-and-wife team who treat everyone like family, this cozy Branford spot serves up big flavors with even bigger heart.

We went for their Protein Pizza and the White Broccoli Rabe & Sausage; the house favorites my friend swore by. The protein dough had that perfect chew with a crisp edge; you can tell Carmine knows his craft. The white pie was pure Italian comfort, bitter rabe, sweet savory sausage, a whisper of garlic, and just enough oil to make everything sing. Balanced, bold, and straight-up addictive.

And because it’s Connecticut, the only right move was to wash it all down with an ice-cold Foxon Park soda.

Authentic, friendly, and consistent, Da’Carmine’s isn’t just a pizzeria. It’s a reminder that simple done right still wins every time.
